Kinda depressing shit tbh I found these notes below from 2019, I was an inspired kid. 2025 today I am overwhelmed, I don’t dream as freely as I used to. A lot has changed on the way.

Fun things to do: Read code. Make something more performant somehow? Implement the obvious to understand how it works underneath. TCP/IP? DNS? Julia Evans articles? K8s CNCF projects? Tinker around till you completely understand something. Try new tools. Benchmark stuff and compare em. Document everything. Brag document make sure you have it. Try that fucking unikernel shit. Try that freaking WebRTC stuff. How X works. lets write X. Try some eBPF shit. Dive deep into mosquitto code. Implement nip.io or xip.io Implement a basic BIND server? There are so many complex things you wrote @ tangerine. open source some of it. Read about security.? read some security related code. Fuzzy testing. Explore that. american fuzzy lop and something. Dive deep into SSL TLS! Implement dropbox or some shit with code. Take an existing open source something and write infrastructure as code. No not just dockerfile. Write a K8s operator or Helm Chart or something. Try AWS Karpenter or some shit. Write some code to do bin packing. Write some implementation of genetic programming. Time Table shit. Solve that. Dude make ultra performant shit, by using the fact that most software is general purpose. Do one of the above in terraform. And test it. Deploy Tangerine arch in terraform or cloudformation? Write about absolute obvious shit. Which you consider very very basic. Write some simple code for dependency tree generation. Write code which has CI, and does linting and automated tests. Atleast one project must be like this. If the code is not great, atleast let it be performant, or else atleast it must churn out a writing piece. Man you fucking absorb a lotta knowledge. But dont create anything. Thats the problem. Some tough shit - eBPF and WASM shit.
